RANCHO CORDOVA PUBLIC ART ORDINANCE & OUTREACH

On behalf of the City of Rancho Cordova, Michael Baker collaborated with the Cordova Community Council and the volunteer Arts Committee to craft a Public Art Ordinance and User Toolkit that will establish a sustainable mechanism to encourage and fund public art throughout the city. The creation of the ordinance and toolkit was preceded by extensive community outreach, for which I created an informational flyer and graphically compelling workshop activity boards. Outreach included committee meetings and pop-up workshops at existing artist events to collect input from local artists and the general public. Through this process, I gained expertise in public art funding and planning, including drafting of a robust percent-for-the-arts ordinance for the city.
